SLN College of Arts and Commerce run by SLN Charities Trust is a College dedicated to provide higher education at an affordable cost to the students belonging to economically and socially depressed classes. An earnest effort is made by the college to provide meaningful education, impart skills and create a holistic personality in each student. The College was established in the year 1966 as SLN College of Arts and Commerce. In the same year the SLN Charities Trust also started a PU College in the campus. With the establishment of lot of Government Colleges in the vicinity, the student strength of the College has gone down over a period of time. However all efforts are being made by the Management, Principal and the staff of the College to remain committed to the vision and will of the Donor Sri. Doddanna Setty in establishing the Trust.
The college was admitted to grant-in-aid by the Government of Karnataka in the year 1987. The college aims to blend traditional values with modern requirements of the society and tries to enforce the regimen of curriculum and skills to create confident human beings ready to serve the society.
I offer my sincere respect to Sri. N. Srinivasa, Chairman, SLN Charities , Sri Sampangi Ramaiah, the Chairman of Literary and Industrial Education Sub- Committee and all the Managing Committee members for their unflinching support and guidance. The Secretary Sri. R.K. Prasad has been a guiding spirit in our efforts. I thank the members of the Trust, alumni, parents and all the stakeholders who have extended their unflinching support in my endeavour as the Principal.
The College has been assessed and accredited twice by NAAC, once in 2004 with ‘C+’ Grade and it was further accredited with ‘C’ in the new system with ‘C’ grade in the year 2007. Efforts have been made to sustain and enhance quality though in a humble way.
I would like to thank the Steering Committee Coordinator Sri Syed Asshad Gaffari, IQAC Coordinator Dr. Venkatappa, Prof. Seeganna and all the members of the committees for their dedication and commitment in the preparation in the SSR for the Cycle-3 of Assessment and Accreditation by NAAC. I thank all the teachers and non-teaching staff, the Managing Committee office, Dept. of Endowment, Officers of NAAC and Officers and staff of the Dept. of Collegiate Education, Govt. of Karnataka and the Bangalore University officials for their support in all the endeavour of the College.
I would also like to thank the Conveners of all the seven NAAC Criteria for their effort in preparing this report. I thank all those people who have directly or indirectly aided our efforts in submitting the College for NAAC Assessment.
